Anyone who knows the artist Frank Krüger a little or follows him on social media also knows how great the artist’s love for the city of New York is. No other place in the world arouses such feelings in him as this city – and no other place causes such a wanderlust. But how did it come about and what is it that makes New York so fascinating for Frank?
New York: love at first sight!
People Never Forget 2 Things: Their First Love and Their First Day in New York City
He has not yet revealed whether Frank Krüger can still remember his first love – but he is happy to tell the story of his first day in New York. He landed in the city in the afternoon and as soon as he took a taxi into the city, he sensed that this is not just a “nice place”, but much more a city that is full of energy, full of life. And this energy was immediately transferred to him. Despite jet lag, he immediately set off to explore NYC and did not return to the hotel until the next morning. No trace of tiredness, because New York has shown itself to the artist so lively that he simply did not even think about sleep.
Since then, Frank has been to NYC a few times and every time he was more enthusiastic about the city. Yes, New York is loud, it’s hectic, it’s just dirty in many places – but if you get involved with the city and its rhythm, it’s the most fascinating place in the world, according to Frank. Incidentally, he felt this very special connection to the city even before he was there for the first time. He literally devoured films that were set in the city and somehow always knew that he would feel particularly comfortable there. He still follows the hustle and bustle in the city on social media and can hardly wait to finally be there again.
Frank Krüger, NYC and art
That Frank Krüger loves the city of New York is shown again and again in his art. Especially in his surrealist works, such as Blues in NYC or Flamenco on Broadway, the city repeatedly plays the leading role. Lady Liberty is also available as an aluminum sculpture in the online shop. Frank got the inspiration for these and other works while strolling through the streets of the city.
When Frank is in New York, of course, not only is his own art in the foreground, but he also likes to look around for other artists and make new contacts. Some works by artists he has met on his travels can now also be found in the galleries on Mallorca and in Berlin – because of course very much at the fore in terms of art in NYC! In this way, the private pleasure of traveling to New York can always be combined with work and we are excited to see when Frank’s next visit to New York can take place and what he will bring with him from there!
