THE BEGINNING
Frank Krüger was born in 1962 in Berlin and he created exceptional works in oil on canvas already in his childhood. As the son of a photographer and a technical draftswoman, he inherited his acute ability to perceive detail and the ability to play with perspective and chromatic harmony.
His desire to study art was frustrated shortly before finishing high school, due to a poor evaluation by his teacher of this subject. Without thinking twice, he dropped out of high school and completed a three-year training course as an animal keeper at the zoo in Berlin.
LET’S GO TO MALLORCA
Years of inner artistic research followed until finally, after several successful exhibitions in Berlin and Mallorca, he decided in 1992 to move the centre of his life to Mallorca, the island of dreamlike beauty, to devote himself entirely to painting.
Since 2007 the artist has been working and selling his works at the Frank Krüger Gallery on the promenade of Cala Rajada, Mallorca. When he looks up from his easel he sees the beautiful blue sea and the fishing boats, swayed by the gentle breeze blowing in the harbour. However, it is not only Mallorca that inspires him; Frank Krüger is also interested in cities like New York.
Very different reasons that, when combined, generate an interesting and impressive fusion of which are masterpieces worked with precision whose most appropriate definition could be surrealist photorealism. “I draw the image, first in my head, where I modify it or eliminate it, until my intuition says – now you can begin!-” “A process that can take years”, says the artist who sold his first oil painting at the age of 12.
MOTIVES AND INSPIRATION
It is not only Mallorca, but also cities like New York and his hometown Berlin, which inspire Frank Krueger.
Different motifs are interacting to an interesting, highly impressive fusion with one another and are forming precisely crafted masterpieces, that can be described best with the concept of a partially surrealist “photo-realism”.
Frank Krüger’s unique work on aluminum and his bulls are internationally known.
He finds inspiration and relaxation, when he takes his Harley-tours on the virgin coastal roads or the interior of the island, where the beauty of the island can be discovered again and again and new ideas are developed.
The purity of the light and colors of Mallorca are reflected in his work, always looking to capture the charm of its landscape.
