Blues in New York City II

Surrealism, Oil on canvas, Frank Krüger
140 x 110 cm

This work shows deep insights into the private life of Frank Krüger. It is also a homage to the Rockefeller Center. A great deal of time was required for this work, which can be seen in the attention to detail.

If the artist is in New York City, he visits the Rockefeller Building at sunset. He spends several hours there to enjoy the blue hour and the city at night. The lights of the city are fantastic.

A naked lady plays saxophone in one of the higher floors of the Rockefeller Center. She enjoys the view of the sunset. Her played blues is in tune with the typical New York soundscape: sirens, cars and horns.

The two buildings, the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building, are striking. They are painted with great attention to detail and are among the artist’s favourite buildings.

The Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty are also part of the work.

Frank plays saxophone himself and loves the blues. In the picture the young woman plays the instrument and reflects this passion.

The blonde lady is naked. Her nakedness stands for naturalness in contrast to the urban jungle. She is vulnerable, but enjoys the moment as God created her.
