An astronaut. In a yoga pose. And a whole new mission taking shape.
It sounds like a rather unusual combination at first. And that is exactly why we like Frank’s new sculpture so much.
Standing on one leg, with his hands joined above his head, the astronaut seems to hover somewhere between weightlessness and balance. He looks as though he could set off on a journey into space at any moment. And yet, there is something remarkably calm and grounded about him.
An astronaut usually represents exploration, discovery and the unknown. This figure adds something else to the mix: a connection to the Earth.
Because before we reach for the stars, we first have to find our own footing.

The future meets presence
The pose is reminiscent of yoga, giving the sculpture an entirely different quality.
There is the spacesuit, with all its technical details, and at the same time this almost meditative posture. The future meets presence.
You could see it as a person looking upwards and searching for something new without losing their centre.
Or simply as an astronaut who has found their balance.
Perhaps that is where the appeal of the sculpture lies: it speaks of the vast world beyond us while also reminding us of what keeps us grounded here on Earth.

A New Series Takes Shape
The astronaut is not intended to be a one-off piece.
Frank is creating a series of five sculptures, numbered 1 to 5. Each one will be a unique work with its own individual design. The basic form connects the series, while the colours and finishing make each sculpture completely its own.
The first two sculptures are already finished. And one of them has already found a new owner.
The other three are still waiting to develop their own personalities.
60 Centimetres of Resin
Each sculpture stands 60 cm tall on an aluminium base. They are made from resin and individually finished and painted by Frank.
The price for each unique piece is €4,900.
And who knows? Perhaps one of these astronauts will soon leave our gallery and find a new home, where it can remind its new owner every day to reach a little higher, while never losing their balance.
Houston, we think: this is one good crew for the next mission!
