We were invited to Rome for the opening of Sculpting Light, the latest exhibition by renowned sculptor Pablo Atchugarry at the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna — one of Italy’s most important institutions for modern and contemporary art.
For decades, the museum has showcased works by some of the most influential artists in art history, including Gustav Klimt, Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, and Alberto Burri. Experiencing Pablo Atchugarry’s monumental sculptures in such a prestigious setting made the occasion even more remarkable.
Around 1,200 invited guests from the worlds of art, culture, fashion, and international society attended the opening.

Who Is Pablo Atchugarry?
Pablo Atchugarry is widely regarded as one of the leading sculptors of our time. Born in Uruguay, he has exhibited internationally for decades, and his works can be found in major museums, private collections, and public spaces around the world.
He is best known for his monumental sculptures carved from white Carrara marble. Despite being created from solid stone, many of his works appear almost weightless, resembling flowing fabric or folded light.

It is this unique combination of strength, elegance, and movement that makes his sculptures so distinctive. His work often explores themes such as energy, spirituality, harmony, and the relationship between humanity and nature.
Prices for his sculptures typically start at around €80,000 for smaller works and can exceed half a million euros for larger pieces.

The Exhibition: Sculpting Light
The exhibition featured approximately 50 sculptures, offering visitors a comprehensive look at Atchugarry’s artistic vision.
From the moment we entered the gallery, it was easy to understand why his work is so highly sought after worldwide. Despite their monumental scale, many of the sculptures feel remarkably light and dynamic, constantly changing as the light shifts and viewers move around them.

Pablo Atchugarry himself was present throughout the evening, taking time to meet guests, collectors, artists, and art enthusiasts. His warmth and generosity made what could have been a large-scale event feel surprisingly personal.
At the end of the evening, every guest received a copy of the exhibition catalogue personally signed by the artist, complete with an individual dedication. We were honored to receive our copy directly from Pablo Atchugarry himself.

Reception, Limousines & Dinner at Palazzo Ripetta
Following the reception at the National Gallery, the evening continued with another unforgettable experience.
Selected guests were transported by private limousine through Rome to Palazzo Ripetta, a luxury hotel located just steps from Piazza del Popolo in the heart of the historic city center.
There, an exclusive dinner for approximately 100 guests brought together international collectors, artists, gallery owners, and art lovers. Over exceptional Italian cuisine, fine wine, and inspiring conversations, new connections were made and old friendships renewed.
It was the perfect conclusion to a truly extraordinary evening — one that will remain in our memories for a long time to come.
