The taste of the rainbow is an ingenious work of art. Frank Krüger shows in this picture the impossible: the taste of the rainbow!
DESCRIPTION
Shown is an empty, crushed coke can with a straw in it. To the right is a seductive mouth that seems to have just drunk from the straw.
Out of the red mouth runs a toxic green drop, which then jumps apart in wild splashes. All the drops appear in the colours of the rainbow and form the taste of the rainbow.
The basis is an aluminium plate, which Frank has worked by himself.
INTERPRETATION
Frank chose the crushed cola can to symbolize today’s consumer society and its drinks. At the same time, however, the can also stands for dreams that are often conveyed in cola advertising. Freedom, fun and happiness!
The bright colours of the rainbow express the surreal, because colours cannot be tasted. Frank shows here that not all things are realizable – tastefully as well as visually.
